This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My class is full of wonderful, kind and caring students who come from all walks of life. Even though I have students who have a difficult time bringing the basic supplies to school, they come to school ready and eager to learn. I look forward to greeting each student every morning as they enter my classroom door. The smiles and "good mornings" that I receive in return make my day.
Our students enter the doors of our colorful school knowing that the staff is prepared to help them reach their potential of being college and career ready.
My Project
My students need healthy snacks to have on days that they need something to either hold them over until lunch time or until they get home. Having some goldfish crackers, fruit snacks, and graham crackers available will help them get through the day. They have breakfast before 7:30 a.m. and don't have lunch until 11:30. Some days they are starving by lunchtime. Sometimes they just don't like what is being served for lunch, so they need a snack to hold them over until they get home.
I would like each student to have a small drawstring bag to hold any snacks in that they would like to finish at a later time.
Having a small drawstring bag also will allow them to carry small items back and forth to school. They don't have textbooks, so having a big backpack is not always necessary.
This project is important because our school emphasizes healthy choices. the students will be able to have a healthy snack to keep their tummies from grumbling and the bags will be perfect to keep their snacks and other small items in.
