My classroom is a very diverse place. I have 18 energetic students who come from different backgrounds. Our diversity includes Caucasian, African-American, Multi-Racial, Hispanic, and Asian. Many of these families have moved from other countries to find work in North Carolina. Our school is a Title I school and funding is limited. Also, this is a brand new school and we want the best for our sweet children. This is my twenty-fourth year teaching the young child. I know from experience that children need their own spot on the floor during large group time. This beautiful carpet would be perfect for them.
My students are curious, enthusiastic, and excited to learn!
Having a comfortable classroom carpet will help my students focus on each lesson. It will give our whole class a central meeting place, and give each child their own space in large group time.
My Project
I've created this project to help purchase a classroom carpet for my students. I want my students to be able to sit comfortably on the floor while we read stories and complete large group activities. My classroom is in a new school and right now there is not a carpet for these lessons. I know a specific place on a warm carpet would give my students a sense of ownership in the classroom and therefore help them to focus on each lesson.
