Sitting on a real carpet is so much fun and so much more comfortable! My students need an "A to Z Animal Squares" carpet to sit on! Yippie! Carpet! Story time was never so much fun!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am teaching in a high poverty high need population that has limited resources. We are a fabulous little school that is often overlooked because when budget cuts come, we suffer the most because our school does not have other sources of funds (example PTA donors etc). The donors in my school are the teachers. We often give to our students before are own family. I am a kindergarten teacher who works with the most amazing fabulous students who try and try their best despite the many obstacles of poverty they face. They are reading at almost a 1st grade level this year. Your donation, even 10 dollars, or more donation will help me buy carpet for my classroom so my students will sit down to story time or listen to direct instruction.
The obstacles my students face is great, but I learned just the other day that a former student of mine (many years ago)has made it into Stanford!! He went through many trials and hardships, but he made it as well as a lot of my other students. Our school has no extra income and there were 7 teachers at our school alone who got pink slips. That means the budget cut here in California is real and it will be affecting our students.
We need a carpet. I have an old one with stains all over it, that was in my apartment years ago. I have cleaned it many times, but it is coming to a sad end after 10 years of use, but I alone cannot afford a carpet on my salary. The donation and your kindness will help little kids sit on something softer nicer and make learning that much more fun. This might seem little, but believe me it will help so much with the learning time and reading a book to them. This gift will be a gift that will keep giving and giving and giving as I can use it over and over again.
