Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My thirty kindergarten and first-grade students come to school each day with a thirst for knowledge. They are eager to learn new things and challenge themselves. We value grit, curiosity, and kindness.
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day.
I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything.
Our school is very diverse with a majority of our student population coming from low-income housing and living in poverty. Many have already experienced more trauma than most do in in a lifetime. In spite of these situations, they are resilient young students who give it their all each and every day. At ages six and seven we are already talking about what they want to be when they grow up and the path to achieving their dreams. Their dreams range from scientists to police officers. My students are tough, curious, kind, creative, helpful, dreamers and so much more!
My Project
Rugs are an essential component of kindergarten-first grade classrooms! Not only do they provide an inviting environment, but they also assist in organizing the classroom. The Flagship Capet Dot Spots will provide that for my classroom. The carpet spots are a consistent space for my students to sit on throughout the day. Due to funding, my school is unable to provide this for my classroom at this time.
It will help provide a nurturing environment to help them to stay focused in our classroom community.
