My students need a carpet that meets the needs of music learning!

My Students

My students love coming to the music classroom as one opportunity a week to explore creativity and sound.

Right now, they're working on a group of 3 carpets that are slowly unraveling due to water damage from Superstorm Sandy and continued wear and tear since then.

My students have been through a lot with the storm, and the result is limited resources of their education. Many of the funds to rebuild have been designated to their regular classrooms, and not as much to their special area classrooms.

My Project

Students will not only have a designated spot to learn, but also so many activities can be completed with the carpet in regard to music notation, sight-reading, rhythms and more.

My hope is to have music carpet with symbols to designate their spots on the carpet, as well as, act as an educational tool for their learning.

Much of music is learned visually along with movement and listening, so the advantage of having a carpet to enhance the learning of the students will help to create well-rounded citizens of our future.
