My classroom is comprised of 26 excited young learners, ages 5 and 6. Many students in our school receive free or reduced-price lunch. With small budgets to work with for classroom materials and continuous budget cuts in education, there are not enough funds to enrich my students’ learning experiences. Kindergarteners are eager to learn and is a pivotal year in my students’ lives. This year sets the tone for the rest of their learning careers. It is important to me that my students have a clean, comforting, and high-quality place to learn. The best part about adding a new rug to my classroom is that many students will benefit for years to come.
The carpet is the heart of my classroom. We come together at the carpet for most of our whole group instruction. The carpet is also a very comforting place for students as our classroom is made of tile. Many students have a hard time sitting still, which is very true in Kindergarten. This is why I am requesting a new rug for my classroom with designated spots to sit. Each child will get to select their own seat and be able to learn about personal space. Most of all, my students will have a comfortable and positive place to learn.
