My Project

Five and six year-olds never lack curiosity or energy and lucky for me my classroom is filled with nineteen of the most curious and energetic kindergarteners you will ever meet!

About as close to the middle of the United States as you can get, a little town in the center of Missouri, I teach in a Title I school district with a transient group of students.

It is my job to create a safe, engaging, and inviting environment for my students to not only survive in but also thrive in. Making our classroom feel like home and a comfortable place for my students to learn plays a major role in this perfect environment.

In an elementary school classroom, a classroom rug or carpet is often the meeting spot of the classroom, for reading stories together, learning the newest sight word, doing morning meetings, or calendar time even. You might even catch a kindergartener catching a quick little nap on the carpet because learning is exhausting and hard.

Our classroom is a tile floor, I often catch myself saying, "Come sit on the carpet with me!" to which my kindergarteners quickly remind me... "We don't have a carpet YET!" Help me change that, "yet" by fully funding my project and giving carpets to kindergarten... and smiles too!
