This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My kindergarten classroom is a warm and friendly place where everyone can blossom! I teach 24 youngsters who are full of energy and enthusiasm for learning. This wonderful atmosphere contributes to the learning that takes place. We spend a great deal of our day learning through play.

We are working together, problem solving and sharing ideas all day long.

This is how kindergarten kiddos learn best! Not only are my students developing a love of learning, but we are developing our ability to get along with others.

My Project

Much of our work in kindergarten is done on the carpet. We currently only have a small area rug that does not fit all of my students. I would love a large enough carpet to accommodate all of my students for whole group instruction at the same time providing them an area to stretch out for independent exploration of activities.

Creating a warm and inviting atmosphere would give my students the learning environment they deserve.

We will utilize this carpet daily during our morning meeting, readers workshop and math lessons. Students will also utilize this area to learn through play by bringing activities to the carpet. Kindergarten students love to be on the floor exploring.
