My students need a new classroom rug. We do everything on this carpet. We read stories, complete Smartboard lessons in all subject areas, and conduct experiments in Science on the carpet.
I am a Kindergarten Teacher in a Title I school. We use our our rug all the time. We sit on the rug for read aloud stories, Smartboard lessons and student engagement everyday. The students feel more involved in the lesson when they can sit up close, see and hear the lessons. When my students sit on the rug, they have flexible seating and can change positions easily. We can be more flexible and have room to move when we sit on the carpet.
We desperately need a need rug/carpet to gather on. The one I have picked out can teach shapes, colors and how to sit in rows and lines. Our old carpet is about 10 years old. It is time to have it replaced.
We gather on the rug to open our morning, do calendar, read aloud stories and complete Smartboard lessons.
We also work together completing Math and Science experiments. When we sit on the rug, we have more flexibility in how we sit. The children can move more easily and be more flexible. When you are 5, you need a little wiggle room!
