Help me give my students flexible seating in my classroom. This allows my students to choose where and how they learn best. Children learn best when they are comfortable and engaged in their learning.
This will be my 16th year teaching. I have 95 bubbly, spunky, and energetic students this year. My school is a rural school with approximately 440 students in grades 5-8. Over 60% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price meals, but together our community, parents, and staff work to get everything we need. We seriously have some of the best students. My students are ethnically diverse, most coming from low to middle-income homes and with cuts to funding, there is no money in our budget for anything outside of basic supplies. I am so grateful to have wonderful supporters like you also partnering with my students and I.
The students in my classroom, come to school every day eager to learn and truly are amazing!
My students surprise me as they are always ready to try something new, which makes me want to be a better teacher every day.
My Project
This flexible seating option of adding a 9' carpet will allow my students to focus in a quiet space on their own, join a group of peers and work together or meet around a table to collaborate.
Allowing my students to sit, stand, kneel or recline, work in a group or by themselves, these choices empower my students to be happier, more engaged and successful on a daily basis in my math class.
By implementing flexible seating, my students will begin to see themselves as problem solvers and critical thinkers. We will use these materials to aide us in the process of becoming lifelong learners. As the teacher, I have done research on flexible seating and success. Yet I truly need your support to make this a reality. Thanks!
