Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students thoroughly enjoy music class! They practice new skills, encourage each other to try their best, and take great pride in their musical growth. Through unique musical experiences, they have had opportunities to become engineers, composers, instrumentalists, singers, dancers, historians, mathematicians, world travelers, scientists, and lyricists.
The children are inquisitive, motivated, responsible, and highly respectful of each other as they learn about music.
They love the chance to be creative and to use humor when faced with challenges. Music is essential!
My Project
My students LOVE playing the steel drums in my classroom. Help me give them a new experience with the latest instrument from the islands...tongue drums! These compact metal drums create such a wonderful sound and will compliment our steel drums. It will also allow me to have more students actively playing instruments in class. The music books will enable us to expand our island adventure with additional songs to play while enhancing our music reading skills.
Can you imagine the expressions on their faces when we create authentic island music on a tongue drum?
