Careers of the Future: Computer Science in the Elementary
My students need these Chromebooks to engage in personalized learning. We currently use code.org & cs-first to learning foundational knowledge of programming. Furthermore, my students will be able to use these laptops to access Ascend Math.
We are a charter school in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City. Our third-grade class is a place of challenge and discovery. Our students need your help to improve their learning experience.
My students are excited to explore the world, to learn about computer science, and expand their capacity for critical thinking.
They take pride in their efforts and are willing to challenge their minds for the sake of learning. To be members of the future workforce, our students will need to be familiar with programming. The best place to start teaching these skills is in the elementary school.
My Project
This year we are focusing on incorporating computer science into every aspect of our daily curriculum. Students will use programs, such as hopscotch and scratch to learn the foundations of computer programming.
The Chromebooks will be used to teach students introductory-level coding skills.
Students will engage in cross-curricular learning using coding to learn across all content areas. Coding can be used to teach literary elements, literary devices, multiplication, integers, coordinate plans, and much more. I chose these Chromebooks because they will best support my students as they learn to program. In the future, most careers will require a foundational knowledge of computer science. I would be doing a disservice to my students if I did not try to prepare them for the future.
