This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students that I serve come from economically challenged homes, for the most part. Many of them face challenges with attendance, behavior and family support. In addition, several of my students often miss many hours of instruction due their exhibits of uncontrollable behavior. My goal is to hopefully improve attendance in school overall, as well as time in the classroom, by providing our students with meaningful and appropriate ways to express their feelings of anger and frustration, as well as a comfortable calming area to refocus.
My students will not be defined by their environment, but rather designers of their environments.
These students are driven to learn and succeed. but require the tools to help guide them in the right direction.
My Project
The students at SRE begin learning about careers in grades 1 and continue until they graduate. The career clusters that they explore change each year, and lessons are delivered through the use of technology. Unfortunately, in many Title I schools, Counselors do not have a budget to be able to purchase laptops or iPads to use while teaching these lessons. My goal is to be able to have enough tablets readily available for every student when I visit their classrooms so that no child will have to wait to participate or share with another student. Help my students explore more!
