Career Building Help for Students with Special Needs

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When students are using technology as a tool or a support for learning they are in an active role in pursuing great achievements on their own. This is one of my main goals in teaching students with special needs on independence.
My 11 students with special needs are currently training on four different job sites as part of their transition plan after graduation.
They are assigned to do custodial work and assisting establishments on a daily basis. This is part of their learning program for which enables them to be familiar with the work that they can eventually do after exiting our program. My students are diagnosed with significant intellectual disabilities, speech and language impairments and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Our program specializes on career development for students with disabilities and teaching them career building, job ethics, effective social skills and meeting expectations of different career opportunities. They are hard working and eager to learn and with the right tools, are able to be a contributor of good work in our community. Despite their special needs, they are wonderful and persevering citizens in our high poverty area.
My Project
With the use of the requested resources and career building application, my students will be able to learn how to build their own resume independently and apply for jobs that interests them with their learned skills after graduation. This is an innovation wherein my students can actively participate in applying for jobs, learning good work standards and expectations and overall, being independent and productive worker in our community. This will empower them to have more drive in contributing positive impact on our society.
Our world is powered by technology and involving my students in the fast paced nature of innovations can only motivate them to perceive better. Obtaining this resource would ensure that students such as them with different abilities would not be left behind.
I believe that technology's motivational advantages in providing a venue in which a wider range of students can excel is huge.
This is true for all students who strive to succeed in achieving their goals for being independent and a productive member of the society. I strongly believe that my students will greatly benefit from this project and helping them do that inspires me to aim higher for their growth in their chosen path in the future.
