Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In their short years of life, the students who attend our school have experienced extreme, repetitive trauma - trauma that no child, or any person for that matter, should ever have to experience. In spite of witnessing and being directly involved in this trauma, our young students do not make excuses for themselves. Rather, they use their struggle and their story as motivation to do better and become better.
With the right amount of love, support, and encouragement, there is truly no stopping them from reaching each and every goal that rests in their hearts.
They are leaders in the classroom, leaders on our sports teams, and will ultimately be the future leaders of our world!
My Project
For so many of my students, graduation and graduation ceremonies are far more than just events. For the majority of my kids, they are not only first generation high school graduates, but in a few short years, will also be first generation college students.
Graduation is a time in their lives where they can celebrate not only their success, but honor the sacrifices that their families have made in order to provide their children with this moment.
These moments are truly once in a lifetime, and although my students will never again have a high school graduation, that does not mean that they will not be celebrated. My students truly are walking miracles, and I would like to show them just how proud of them we are through care packages that will include a graduation card, party poppers, snacks, and a graduation banner to always remember that they can and will positively change the world!
