Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are truly exceptional! They work hard to succeed. They persevere when faced with a challenge, creatively inspire our community, and believe in one another. They are tomorrow's leaders and world-changers. They are our future and together we can help them reach their dreams. More than 100% of our students receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. They come to a low-income Title I school every day where resources are very limited. Some of our students are unable to purchase supplies and the school is only able to do so much with the budget they have. Our students strive to do their best!
My students are energetic, smart, and motivated to succeed.
Even though they come from a variety of backgrounds, including race, religion and family structure, we all work together to create a unique learning experience, instilling a love of learning and exploring that will last a lifetime. Many of our parents work multiple jobs and are unable to attend school events; therefore, parents are missing out of their student’s success.
My Project
Promoting more cooperative and independent workers in the 3rd-5th grades during their stations time by having colorful and inviting games and tasks. With the color cardstock students will be invited to use the stations and games created. It is difficult to build independence and collaboration in these early grade levels. We don't want to be wasting our time with "busy work" or just sitting with nothing to do. So we want to create quality learning centers and games that help students practice valuable math skills independently during their stations. If our independent time is spent using high quality learning materials, we will keep learning while the teacher is busy teaching the other students.
The donations to this project will help to us make the best use of our time at school through cooperative learning at engaging stations.
Worksheets can be boring, sometimes useless, and create a problem when encountering difficult questions. By having card stock to create learning centers, students will get to work in small groups and interact with others as they learn. They will also be spending their time with higher quality learning opportunities to practice skills. We won't be wasting our time or just be involved in busy work to keep us quite. We will be actively engaged in learning something.
