This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

All students are enrolled in a Title 1 comprehensive high school. Students are in the health academy geared towards patient care and science careers. Science and medical manipulatives are needed in large supply as most items are for one time use.

My Project

Students will practice suturing techniques before engaging in a heart dissection in Physiology. The kits requested are all inclusive and include the suturing pad as well. Students are in an academy pathway in high school that exposes them to authentic experiences in the health care industry. Practice is very valuable and realistic in future health related careers. The suturing practice is a direct lead into the lab dissection of a pig heart where students will perform "surgery" on the heart including closing and suturing. I would like students to work in pairs.
