My students need a flexor measuring board (sit and reach), stop watches, pedometers, calculators, tennis and racquetballs to assist with improving their fitness scores and learn about how the body is such a miraculous machine.

My students are in need of pedometers, stop watches, a flexor measuring board and the essentials to allow them to set their own fitness goals and be successful attaining them using the supplies we lack.
I teach Physical Education to a fantastic student body of young people who are very interested in learning ways to extend their lives in a nutritional and healthy fashion by learning how the heart and lungs play such an important part in our body functioning properly.
In class, we continually discuss why physical fitness, a healthy body, and eating proper foods are so important to one's longevity.
My "kids", as I call them, strive every day to show growth in their physical fitness scores and improve their personal health and well-being. We have a population where about 85% of our students qualify for free and/or reduced lunch. Many of whom don't eat balanced meals and lack physical activity on a daily basis.
Lifelong physical activity and health are an integral component of my Middle School Physical Education Program. Every day, the students strive to improve their overall health.
Obesity is a large part of our society with fast-food restaurants on every corner begging us to drive through and eat on the run.
In our fast paced lifestyle, my goal is to educate students on how to combat the disease using lifelong and health related activities.
One way for me to accomplish this is to have students work in small squads to develop fitness and nutritional goals using the necessary tools to assist in improving their overall health. By using stopwatches, pedometers, flexor measuring board, etc., they will be able to accomplish this.
The materials I requested will enable the students to do just this, by focusing on the components of fitness directly related to heart and lung function, especially learning how to monitor heart rate in relationship to physical activity.
