What a treat to have an opportunity each day, to hold a pencil or brush, to explore and create, to have the freedom to express yourself. Young minds need this freedom to learn and grow. These are ways that students in my classroom give voice to their thoughts.
These beginning and developing artists explore the concepts of drawing what they see and imagine.
Some struggle, some embrace the challenge, while others just don't know what to think. As they become more comfortable with drawing, the desire to learn and improve grows. Our school is large, with many electives. Whenever a student is placed in my classroom, I want them to feel successful. The opportunity to document their growth into a portfolio is vital. It will also serve as an efficient assessment tool. Growth through time.
My Project
AMAZING art is happening daily and the drawings should be documented to measure student growth and success. One purpose of this iPad will be used for photographing student progress and examples of projects. Another use will be to aid instruction. Students will see on a screen, a flattened 3-d object in front of them. This allows for specific pointing out of details while aiding in individual instruction. Using Apple apps, shadows and colors can be highlighted and explored. The iPad can assist in discussion of the focal point and visual interest, giving the students an opportunity to deepen their understanding of drawing.
The iPad will add another perspective to explaining and explore.
Students can discover another tool, point out shadows, colors, texture, etc, on the iPad screen. Apps can be applied to the screen, depicting a scene in front the students.
