My students need Chromebooks that allow them greater success in learning technology which will help them to succeed in my classroom and in the 21st century.
"The most important thing that schools can do is not to use technology in the curriculum more, but to use it more effectively"- John G. Palfrey. This quote explains my classroom and students very well.
At my school, approximately 75% of the students are low income.
Approximately 25% of my students do not have access to computers or the Internet outside of my classroom and they have to rely on any available technology in the school. I want to engage and challenge my students to open their minds to new ideas and concepts through the use of technology and this project will do that.
My Project
I teach a diverse group of students, from 9th grade to 12th grade. My students are planning on attending college or starting careers and they need technology and collaboration skills which will allow them to be successful in adulthood. I believe that my students will flourish by challenging them and engaging them through the use of technology.
My goal with this project is to allow my students to work as teams to find and put the information to use in my history classes through the use of a Google Classroom website.
This website will allow them to creatively collaborate with each other to learn history in the 21st century, while also allowing them to retain and easily access the information they find. I am asking for one Chromebook per group to achieve this goal for a total of ten Chromebooks.
