Capturing Smiles in Reading With a Document Camera
My students need a document camera because it will allow me to model for them specific skills such as annotations while teaching them to read for understanding. Annotating has been proven to help struggling readers.
Many of my students are struggling readers and need strong support to become better readers. They have made great strides this year and grown so much in reading. I am very proud of the hard work they put in each day.
I love their passion and energy for learning!
My students come to class each day smiling, excited and eager to learn something new. We have formed a safe learning community where students feel comfortable and learn from their mistakes.
A document camera is a device that allows teachers to place an object or paper underneath and project it on the screen for students to see. Teachers are able to face the class and give instruction while writing on the documents for students to follow along.
I will use the document camera to help students to comprehend texts better as well as become better writers.
I will be able to use the document camera to teach students skills and strategies such as annotating and finding evidence to support their thinking. Having a document camera that I can show students these skills will make it easier for them to understand rather than trying to explain or tell them.
