My Students

My students are faced with daily challenges like poverty, hunger and need. Frindle is a fun, belly-laughing book that helps students feel empowered, happy and still learn to read better.

Our school is a Title I charter school with a population of challenged families; financially, emotionally or socially.

Many of these students get their only encouragement, love and positivity at school. It is their "I can do it" place. I have a large class of 39 students who desperately want to learn. They just need the tools.

My Project

Reading Frindle will share my love of reading with students who aren't really sure about it yet. It's funny, and it shows students that they have power at school. It's all about being yourself and having fun. I hope that they love this book and this author, and it sparks curiosity in the many other books he's written. It could get the ball rolling for many of them.

I care about making a difference.

I spend a lot of my own money on my classroom - easily thousands every couple of years. With budget cuts, grant funds being low, and economic hardship in student homes, this would be the only way to share this book with all of my students.
