This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The use of social emotional books in the Little Spot of Emotion set help my youngest learners come to understand some "big" feelings they are experiencing. Eric Carle and folk/fairy tale books are nice addition to see how animals and other things like clouds experience emotions! Fun games like the emotions coin drop, feelings chart, and sensory toys offer young children opportunities to identify and work through their own emotions. It is my hope that such books, SEL supports, and basic toys like PicassoTiles give my developing learners a multitude of ways to learn about and manage feelings. My greatest goal in the classroom is to support my students' social, emotional, and mental health while enriching and accelerating their learning. One of my students' and my favorite ways express our feelings is through art! Materials like glue, paper, chart paper, markers, and notebooks give children the building blocks to create and emote through art. Simple, basic materials encourage children to use their imagination and create from the mind and heart. I love to showcase and display art by using laminating pouches and sheet protectors to keep their creations safe and secure! Unfortunately, dwindling supplies means I have to ration materials for select activities and often cannot spare materials when children want to create spontaneously. Emotional expression through literacy and art is a core aspect of my classroom of diverse and beautiful students. Please help me give these opportunities to my littles by bolstering my supply of materials and supporting their creative and emotional expression! By donating to this project, you will be encouraging the youngest learners to create and emote as freely as possible with no limit on their expression. We appreciate the thought that motivates these donations!
