Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a low socioeconomic environment. They attend a Title I public school with limited resources. The whole school receives free breakfast and lunch. For many of my kindergartners, this is the only real meal they eat on a daily basis.
My students come from hardworking parents who strive to support their families but have difficulties providing all the school supplies necessary for their children.
My kindergartners are sweet and loving and love learning. Unfortunately, due to their home environments, school is the safest place where they can be. They have very curious minds and are passionate about learning.
My Project
Kindergarten students are expected to rote count to at least 100 and recognize numbers 1-20 in order to begin addition and subtraction concepts. This generation of students seem to learn faster with technology. The Amazon Fire tablets will be used in the classroom to download apps that will help five year olds learn their numbers to prepare them for first grade.
Math applications will help my students learn numbers in an interactive way with technology.
They will practice math concepts and learn as they "play" with tables. Tablets in the classroom will only add a fun twist to our Kindergarten classroom.
