Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work at a Title 1 school where most of our students were affected by hurricane Harvey.
The students at my school are at risk of graduating, yet, they come to school every day to do their best and learn as much as they can with their limited resources.
Our students are growing and learning, but they need more motivation to be successful. They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet. They are the future and I want to support them on a great start to their long successful career.
My Project
My students will be focusing on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test in the upcoming weeks; therefore, motivational support will make a greater impact in their life, so that they are ready to pass every test. I would like teachers to mentor those students struggling in the subject testing areas, by providing incentives to them. My goal is to track their test results, see improvements, and encourage them to try their best. The games, snacks, stickers, wristbands, and pencils will be given to those students that are struggling the most with the purpose to motivate them to work hard for the state test. Students get excited when they receive a sticker or even a pencil. It has been a very difficult year after hurricane Harvey destroyed our community.
You will help students to improve academically and increase their attention during class by allowing our teachers to provide them with incentive rewards, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
I want to show how much we care for them, that we are here to support them, and I want them to do their best to pass their STAAR test. These rewards will make their work easier, make them feel special and motivate them to work hard. Best of all, teachers and staff will be able to show the appreciation they have for the school and the community!
