My students need a document camera to help them visualize the writing process.

If you were to take a glimpse inside my classroom, you would see a room full of students working hard at their desks in collaboration with one another. They are eager to learn and they are excited to build a better life for themselves -- a life that their parents have always dreamed for them.
Most of my students come from low-income backgrounds and have faced many challenges throughout their lives.
Despite this, they commute to school everyday (some for hours) to work hard and build a better future for themselves. In fact, almost all of our students attend college, many receive full-ride scholarships, and several have even made it to the ivy leagues. Learning occurs despite being in a school that does not have all the resources that it needs.
The document camera will be a vital tool to help my students see the writing revision process modeled for them in real time. One of my primary goals is to improve my students' writing as it is one of the most important skills necessary for collegiate and occupational success. However, it is hard for them to fully appreciate the value of drafting and revising their papers. Additionally, it is hard for students to realize what aspects of their paper need to be redone. So I hope to use the document camera to model my writing and to demonstrate how revisions are done to help my student truly understand that writing is a process that needs constant critiquing and editing.
Donations to this project will make improvements in the classroom by helping my students become better writers.
Writing is the most difficult aspect of English for many of my students. Through this donation, you will facilitate the teaching and learning of writing, which will make my students more capable in their abilities, more confident in themselves, and more college ready.
