My Students

In my years of teaching Kindergarten, it amazes me how my students are always enthusiastic and ready to do their best. Our school is departmentalized K-5th. This means my students are switching classes throughout the day to receive instruction from three different teachers. I teach reading/writing to a total of three classes, that is 66 kindergarteners. Time is limited and maximizing instruction is a must. I maximize instruction through the use of technology and visuals. Kindergartners enter each class daily ready to learn and I want to be prepared to provide the tools needed for success.

I want my classroom to be the place my students grow their minds as well as where they grow as individuals through a variety of experiences.

Many of my students encounter many challenges in their daily lives, and my classroom is the place they receive the tools to thrive academically and socially. Kindergarten is the foundation of life. It is in school my students find the resources and technology they lack at home and the opportunities to learn in a variety of ways. In all, my students are anxious to learn and excited to start a new school year.

My Project

In this project I am asking for a digital camera and Tech Tub2 to promote student learning, create endless activities in reading and writing, and use for a variety of exciting purposes.

My students' learning experiences and character development can be captured in every step of the way.

I like to tell my students how great they look when they are on task and being a star student, respecting and caring for others. I would like to take pictures of these moments, print them and place them around the classroom to recognize their hard work. Fostering students socially and emotionally enhances their success academically.

The activities my students can do with a digital camera are endless. I will use pictures of my students in the beginning and middle of the school year for them to write about themselves in our classroom book. Use words that describe them and then sentences as they increase their ability to write and read. It will also help to reach my visual learners using pictures of things that begin with a particular letter or initial sound. The pictures will be of things around the school that students can connect to in order for them to write about it. The ink will be used to print the pictures for our learning activities and student products.

The camera will also be used for exciting events such as field trips, holidays, and graduation. Pictures and videos of field trips will extend the learning/exploring to the classroom. The camera can also be use for administrative purposes such as digitally record assessments and classroom organization. The tech tub2 will be used to keep our classroom technology safe and charged to maximize learning. Students will be responsible to care for it and collaborate with each other.
