My students need 4 cameras and 5 tripods for digital photography assignments, especially for their motion photography unit, where a steady shot is crucial.
Imagine trying to freeze a moving motion in time, being able to capture the seemingly unseen, the beautiful qualities of moving life, without the proper equipment...some hurdles, prove too difficult without the right supplies.
At our high school, students have the ability to take digital and darkroom photography for not just 1, but 4 years!
In that time they are able to learn and develop themselves as photographers and artists through many units of instruction. The program keeps growing every year, which has demanded more resources, and a bit of wear on existing ones. The students here are so eager to learn everything they can about photography, that I wanted to find extra help to get them the quality materials that they deserve.
My Project
I am requesting tripods for my students for various classroom needs. Simply put, we have a few, mostly broken, tripods. The tripod is especially needed in Photography 2, when the students are putting their knowledge of the three types of motion photography to use. I am requesting digital cameras, because we have so few for a class sizes of 27... it creates a situation where students potentially are "standing in line" to learn.
Without the proper tools, art education truly cannot come to life.
It is one thing to learn from a lecture or reading, but it is another to be able to practice and put their knowledge to good use.
