Help me give my students materials to bring their Investigative Digital Arts class to life with memory cards, memory card holders, and recording equipment.
I work with freshman and sophomore students in a public school that went from a comprehensive school to three separate small schools nine years ago. We have a concentrated population of students in my school that struggles in a traditional setting. Over 54% of our student population is on free and reduced lunch, and this year. Our school brings these students to experience success in high school by forming strong relationships and then asking more of them.
Our students embrace the culture of our school, and they love to be in a community that accepts them and expects them to learn.
My students are excited to be in a school that values an interdisciplinary approach as well as hands-on learning. My students have a passion for life and learning about the world around them. They love to explore how the world works, and most importantly, to ask why. They are curious, and they do not accept the easy answer. Creating lessons that allow them to investigate the "why" of our current unit study has become one of my favorite parts about teaching these energetic students.
My Project
I am requesting materials to bring my Investigative Digital Arts humanities block class to life for my students. With your donation, students will have the opportunity to capture their own images that connect to course content themes with their own SD Card. The SD Card holders will ensure students do not lose their SD cards when we are out shooting with our class cameras. In addition, students will write and record their own podcasts with the H4n recording equipment.
This is my first year teaching this elective themed humanities course, and I want to create meaningful experiences for my students outside of the classroom.
These materials help make my classroom portable. We are able to leave the traditional classroom setting and accomplish our learning objectives in new settings that are relevant to our content.
