The students I work with are part of a unique program that permits them to earn both high school and college credit simultaneously (after grade eleven), with an opportunity to graduate with a diploma and an associate's degree. Our program is affiliated with a large, local public school district; because of this, our students come from diverse backgrounds. Because they were admitted to our school, they are bright, inquisitive, and highly motivated to succeed.
Since many students' parents work, they are likely to remain at school after lessons end for the day.
Extracurricular activities are thus very popular, with many students participating in sports, academic clubs, and common interest pursuits like the Photography Club.
Providing my students with cameras will open up new creative opportunities, both inside and outside of the classroom. In addition to expanding knowledge of photographic techniques, students will be empowered to embrace their artistic potential.
Student club members will likewise engage with members of other student organizations on campus.
Student photographers will gain valuable hands-on experience and will be able to forge friendships and connections with peers outside of the classroom. The skills developed in Photography Club will also prepare students for potential careers in the arts in college and beyond.
