My students need a digital camera, memory card, and case to capture their memories for a lifetime.

How do you feel when you look at your childhood pictures? What memories and stories do these pictures evoke? By donating to my project you can help fun-loving second graders capture their memories for a lifetime.
I teach twenty-four students in a charter school in Atlanta, Georgia.
My students represent a variety of races and socioeconomic status backgrounds. They bring in a wide array of cultural up-bringing and experiences. However, they all have one thing in common - they love to learn! My students always come to class eager to learn. Their enthusiasm for learning shows whether I'm teaching a hands-on science lesson or a grammar lesson centered on verbs.
My school uses a Project Based Learning (PBL) approach. PBL's are designed to teach students 21st century skills such as cooperation, problem-solving, using technology, and collaboration. Teaching in such an innovative fashion lends itself to many fun and exciting activities that show students in engaging learning environments. My goal is to capture these moments and share these memories with the students and their parents. I have requested a digital camera, memory card, and case to capture these memories. Additionally, the students will be able to use the camera during our sun, light, and shadow science experiments. The students will take a picture of their shadows in the morning, early afternoon, and late afternoon. After printing the pictures, the students will be able to compare their shadows and discuss how the Earth's rotation in relation to the sun affects their shadows and the light position at different times of the day.
I spend approximately eight hours a day (yes, my school has an extended day) with my students, and my students' parents are curious about what we're learning in the classroom.
Although I invite parents into my room and share what we're learning via e-mail newsletters, I feel that students and their parents would benefit greatly from seeing what's going on in my classroom. I will use this camera to capture and share pictures and videos - memories for a lifetime!
