Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are creative, outgoing, and eager to learn! They absolutely love to engage in various projects, think outside the box, and overcome problems with solutions. They usually come to school each day ready to try new things and learn all they can, but this year we will have to adjust from traditional school to online learning. In order to grow personally and academically, this new way of learning will enable us to overcome more obstacles!
Many students in my classroom come in to learn about digital design and have difficulty completing practice assignments at home because of a lack of supplies and resources.
Our school is based in the heart of Little Haiti. Now, with this new way of learning and adapting I will struggle to teach them effectively with limited resources and supplies.
My Project
I would like to create project based learning activities that my students will enjoy that will represent and honor Black History. Using the Canon Camera students will be able to portray their owning meaning and creativity within lessons of Black History. Students will work in groups to discuss how Black History has impacted them and how much it can make a difference. The students will use resources to recreate moments in History, honor prominent figures in History with the Canon Camera. Students will come up with ideas to represent Black History within still images or videos. The students will display their images made with the Canon Camera within the school and on the school social media platforms. The students will portray their work of art during Black History Month and around their community.
