Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a low-income demographic where they are susceptible to gangs and violence. Whether they have to work to support their parents or babysit their siblings when they get home, my students come to school no matter the difficulties they face.
My indefatigable students put in the effort to learn every day and they do it to make sure they can create a better life for themselves and their families.
My students are resilient and work hard to not only help build a positive relationship within the school, but also in the community as well.
My Project
In order for my students to stay off the streets and be successful at school and compete against other middle schools in the district, my students need to practice. By acquiring soccer balls (20) and some mesh bag nets (20), my students will be able to develop their skills not only their soccer skills, but also their leadership skills that will eventually carry out into the community. At the moment, we have just a handful of soccer balls that are at our disposal. For about 50 kids, it is quite difficult to establish a practice that involves true practice drills because of our limitation.
With the donation of these soccer balls and ball bags, we will have the opportunity to motivate more students to come out to practice and actually involve them in competitive drills that will help build their soccer skills and their characters.
In turn, this will motivate students to keep their grades up and work on maintaining a 2.0 in order to participate in these fun challenging activities.
