It is common to hear my school referred to as "The Best Kept Secret". A small school of around 300 kindergarten through fifth grade students, there is a palpable feeling of community when you walk through our doors. While supporting students from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, our primary focus is building positive relationships with every child. Teachers work tirelessly each day to help students see the best in themselves.
Walking into our classroom means walking into friendship, happiness, and silly giggles!
Team Tucker has 20 of the happiest and most enthusiastic young people you'll ever know. We take on challenges as a team and build each other up every day. At our closing circle meetings, the most common answer to the question "What was your favorite part of today?" is ... "Seeing my friends and teacher!" Team Tucker is a family of learners committed to making the world a better place.
These 8 and 9 year olds deserve every opportunity to become the best learners they can be. It can be hard work to grow your brain, and we need help making that work fun!
My Project
I have done my best to create a welcoming environment in our classroom. There are inspirational quotes on the walls, books by the dozen, and soft lighting in every corner. I only wish I were able to provide my students with the comfortable furniture that will make our classroom more of a "home away from home". I would love to have your help in creating a space where students are excited to learn, laugh, and grow in day after day.
Students are able to do their best learning when they feel comfortable in their classroom.
Sitting in a hard plastic chair is not an ideal option for my young learners. It does not help my students learn autonomy or responsibility. Having multiple seating options will teach my children to know themselves as learners and allow them to develop the ability to self-reflect on their needs. By adding wobble stools and floor seat options to our existing floor pillows and bungee chairs, I know my students will be excited to tackle all of our learning adventures.
