Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first-year kindergarten teacher! The student make-up is 81% Hispanic with many students being ELLs, and nearly all students come from low-income households.
We come together each day to be a community of learners, helping each other to grow, and do our very best.
They love hands-on, active, and engaging projects and challenges that will allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They begin their love for learning in my classroom and continue throughout their educational career!
My Project
My Kindergarteners are in the very beginning stages of reading, and shared reading is an amazing time during our day to get them interested in literature! Using big books gives them access to the text and allows them to see the words and follow along! This collection that I have chosen is heavily patterned and wonderful for students to engage with.
Big Books give young readers access to the text!
I would use these books year after year and cannot wait to share them with my class! I know they will be used and loved during whole group lessons as well as during their center time and writing time! We cannot wait!
