Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Public schools across the country have faced severe cuts in arts programs for many years. Our students are lucky to have a performing arts focus in addition to their academic studies.
Our school incorporates the performing arts across the curriculum.
Developing individual interests, choosing music of personal interest to study, and joining together to play music with and for friends are important steps in developing a lifelong enriching music hobby. Little Kids Rock, Fender Music Foundation, and Donors Choose have helped us build our students' Rock Band Club during lunch and after school. We offer the opportunity for students of beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels to develop their knowledge and skills from wherever they are toward wherever they want to be.
My Project
This project would enable us to better support students to join together, create their own bands, practice for performance, and record their original compositions. The Leslie amp is expensive, but its special design will give both the keyboard and guitar players a unique sound. The Marshall half stack will accompany an existing Fender unit to support two guitar players. The bass cabinet will supplement an existing rig. Guitar strings, small drum kit parts, and other accessories are always needed, and the more gear, the more supplies, maintenance, and repair necessary, too.
These items help us establish a good support setup for our students.
It's been a long time working toward this point, and Donors Choose has helped make more than half of it possible. We've been lucky to receive the support we have, and this project is a lot more to ask for, but our students are ready to play at this level, and we're happy to support them. Thank you!
