Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a second-year teacher at a Title I school. I teach fourth grade and am loving every minute of it. Before my teaching position, I did my student teaching, as well as held a long-term substitute position at my new school and fell in love with the students, principal, and staff. Even though my students struggle with hardships every day, such as homelessness, incarcerated parents, little or no food, and language barriers, they always have smiles on their faces when they come to school and are eager to learn. I am blessed to be able to work with these students and make a difference in their lives.
My Project
Last year we lost our art program at school. I have been blessed to have art supplies funded for my students to draw, color, paint as well as fun, 3-D, creative art materials that they can use their imaginations to create amazing art.
These materials that will bring their art to life.
However these materials are not helpful, if they do not have something to paint on or attatch their art suppleis to. These canvas panels of assorted sizes will allow my students to bring their art to life. Art is is necessary and crucial for students who spend all day learning math, reading, and writing. Sure they get a break to attend Music and P.E., but teachers and parents know that this is not enough. Many students need art to express themselves and sadly this is missing from my school and classroom.
I am grateful for your help to provide my students with the materials needed to express themselves through art.
