Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our student-athletes come from across the city of Jackson and our entire school qualifies for free lunch and transportation to and from school based on the fact that the majority of our students live below the poverty level.

Despite the issues facing our students, they come to school every day and persevere.

Most every student attends college post-graduation. Our students need any support available, as our school and district often cannot provide the resources necessary for our students to compete with other high schools in our region. Athletics is a way that they are able to realize their post-secondary dream.

My Project

These starting blocks will be used at the track practices and track meets by over 7 high schools and 10 middle schools.

This project will help 30 students per school on average!

There is more to track and field then just running fast. Technique and proper mechanics can beat talent any day! I truly believe we have some of the most talented athletes in the state, but we lack the facilities and tools to teach proper mechanics.

With this project we plan on leveling the playing field for our athletes!
