My students need Makey Makey kits to use as our controller when connected to the computer design programs we have created.
This project expired on May 23, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Our class is made up of 25 outstanding 5th graders! Our students are so caring and considerate, passionate and hard working. We work hard every day to improve ourselves as learners and as individuals.
Our favorite thing to do as a class is to read novels together, work on all of our various class art projects, and design any kind of STEM challenge.
We have broad-sweeping personal interests from sports like football and soccer; to art, including pencil drawings, 3D paper structures, and playing musical instruments; as well as computer based interest that include video games and computer coding.
We have the best class ever!
Our classroom really loves to participate in STEM activities and especially use technology within our classroom.
We have been working within the Scratch website to create and code computer programs we have designed.
We would like to take the coding we have been doing one step further by connecting Makey Makey control panels to our computers and using them to manipulate the games we have created.
We are also studying energy this year and we will be able to use these Makey Makeys to test what items are conductive. We will be able to look at the contents of our classroom, assess what properties our things might have that make them conductive, and then test these ideas using the alligator clips connected to our computers. It would be such a fun way to bring science and technology together!
