Learning in our own way is one of the strategies we use to provide flexibility in our classroom. My co-teacher and I would like to provide the tools needed for students to succeed by providing an environment for students to learn to the best of their ability. My co-teacher and I would like to provide a safe, comfortable and homey environment that makes learning welcoming each and every day.
My fifth graders come from a diverse school community of about 600 students.
Together, we are all part of the largest elementary school in our district. These amazing fifth graders continue to inspire me with their desire to learn, and it is my job to find a way to make it.
My Project
Remember how much fun you had playing the game Candy Land? We would like to bring this experience to life! We would like to create a classroom transformation based on the game and basics of the game Candy Land. We will plan on creating a game board and using the standees in our project to move game pieces. Each of the game pieces would be based on English and Reading skills that we have been working on throughout this school year. I would plan on placing the directional signs throughout the room. These signs would mark the change of skills that will be asked. Students have gained so much more success when we have utilized and created transformations than the traditional worksheet method.
