Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarteners are eager to learn! They are fun loving and are always seeking new things to use in their learning.
I love the looks on their faces when they see new activities or games that I add to the classroom throughout the year, as it sparks their interest & curiosity and makes their learning fun!
My classroom is an environment where my student's age and ability level is respected and valued. I strive to provide play based, high interest and engaging learning activities/games that allow them to practice and master skills at their own pace.
Our school was impacted by the Northern California Fires (in Santa Rosa) in October. We lost 3 weeks of instruction and with the academic rigor that exists in our Dual Immersion program, I am struggling to get my students to where they need to be. Anything that I can provide for them that will help me to keep their interest and make learning fun and meaningful will be beneficial for my students.
My Project
Kindergarteners are some of our youngest learners. They thrive on play based learning activities, where they are allowed to be their age, yet they are curious and able to take in a whole heap of academic learning skills.
I want to provide my students with more sensory stimulating materials that can be integrated into our academic learning centers.
My classroom is an environment where my students can learn and practice skills we are working on in a fun, engaging manner.
These materials will enhance my learning centers as they will serve as something new and fun to "play" with, along with the opportunity to practice and master academic skills. They will be able to work with materials that offer sensory stimulation and fun. They will work on numbers/counting on a light table with translucent numbers and counters or stamp out letters/words with fun stampers and scented playdoh.
The options are limitless as I will find new ways to use these materials throughout the year!
