it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
WOW! Our class received the wonderful gift of an IPAD. Imagine the world of possibilities available in my classroom: research, online learning, educational games, and more. There is one problem...we have to pass the IPAD around. We need a dock to rest this device so everyone has equal access.
Located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley, my school is a very low income, high need school.
One hundred percent of my students are on free lunches. Their families have been hit very hard by the massive California budget crisis and unemployment rate. As a result, my students are limited in their exposure to technology and the wonderful world of the Internet. Most don't have a computer at home and have been completely deprived of the world of computers. Many are second language learners who the need the visual exposure to images and new English concepts.
My students are vibrant, energetic, and enthusiastic children. In a class that is buzzing with activity, each child longs to succeed in this competitive world while facing the challenges of being financially deprived and limited in resources. It is my job as the teacher to educate these students using modern technology and devices. It is my job to provide equal access to our IPAD and to utilize the many functions of it.
My Project
With the donation of an IPAD dock and a pair of headphones, the possibilities are endless in my classroom. Whether I am working in a small group at the kidney table or gathering the children around their desks, they all will have a clear view of the screen and easy access to the IPAD. For the children who need more individualized time with the IPAD (learning the English language or practicing math skills they are lacking), the earphones will lend themselves to a quiet and focused learning experience, while not disturbing the rest of the class. We will no longer have to pass the IPAD around when I am showing an image of a newly learned vocabulary word or a video of how to solve certain math operations. There will no longer be pushing to the front to see the screen or arguing about holding the IPAD. The IPAD will sit proudly on a dock for all to see and hear. The headphones will create ownership for individual use.
Your generous donation will have a huge impact on my classroom.
This contribution of an IPAD dock and headphones will make modern learning accessible and enjoyable for my students. The exposure and experiences that the children will have will be priceless.
