I teach eighth-grade science in a small, rural Tennessee town. We are in a high poverty area, and many of my students do not always have the same opportunities as students in urban areas.
Creating the ideal classroom environment is critical to academic success.
My students are inquisitive, eager to learn, and love new challenges! Our new curriculum is project-based and enables all students to work at their own pace through the required work. Progress is monitored through checkpoints, and students can easily see how they are progressing through their 8th-grade work.
As a teacher, it is my responsibility to expand my students' horizons. Providing them with activities that stretch their brains and provide them with a challenge will motivate and engage my students.
My Project
Many students are learning virtually in my classes and I have found that my current computer is not reliable enough to provide a quality video call. Students need to be able to see and hear me during the entire length of our virtual meetings and therefore, a better computer is needed.
While it is funny at times to be unable to hear or see the teacher, it is also frustrating.
We joke about the 'technical difficulties' I have with the equipment, but we have reached a point where a better solution is needed. This Lenovo laptop will provide for higher quality virtual lessons.
