Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the amazing opportunity to work with the kindest students in the world. My students are constantly finding ways to give back to the school and their community. Just this year they have organized food drives, uniform drives and put together care packages for our city's homeless population. Did I mention that they find ways to give back despite that fact that most of their families fall below the poverty line? I want to make sure that they never go without the supplies and technology that is needed to be successful in our ever-changing digital world.
My Project
I work with an amazingly diverse group of students. When creating art projects, my students often want to showcase their diversity; but many times they find the need to improvise because of a lack of supplies that reflect their heritage.
Please help me give my students the opportunity to create art that reflects their amazingly diverse and inspirational cultural backgrounds.
Art is an outlet for my students to foster inclusive, positive attitudes about the multiple racial and ethnic groups that they belong to. Creating art expands a student's ability to interact with the world around them. For many students, art is their main form of self-expression and communication.
