Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

If you were asked to name all 50 states and capitals of the U.S., could you? In our urban, third grade classroom at C.I.C.S.-Bucktown, all of my students are expected to know this information by the completion of the school year. The great news is that with your support, these bright students with limited educational resources at home could not only study the states and capitals, but learn them through an interactive, hands-on approach. TALKING GLOBES would be the facilitating tool used to enhance a quality education for my hard-working students who each day attend classes for 2 hours longer than neighborhood school students. Having 80% free and reduced lunch services, many students consequently lack the educational resources at home. By providing a classroom opportunity for them to work cooperatively with others and learn via technological resources, they will be engaged with learning. Resources such as an interactive map put the world at students' fingertips. My students would be thrilled to learn the U.S. states and capitals during center time with lights and sounds that would make them feel as though they were part of a virtual arcade game.
