Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a lucky teacher with 20 energetic first graders! They come in eager to learn each day! Most of my students are on free or reduced lunch and also receive ELL services. My classroom is a place the students can all come together no matter their background.
I am very fortunate that I get to experience first hand the growth first graders make in just 9 short months!
We work hard to create a classroom of respect and acceptance.
My Project
First graders are constantly on the move. At times, it's important to slow down and listen. Each year, I replace my classroom headphones with ones that are inexpensive (they have to fit into a teacher's budget!). I would like to replace my current headphones. Lap desks would make moving around the room with an iPpad and headphones safer.
Listening is one of the most important skills a child can practice while in school.
We use headphones every day with our iPpads and computers. This allows me to differentiate learning. I may have one student listening to learn the English language while another is focusing on listening comprehension- both at the same time.
