Hello, all! I teach at a Title I school. I have 18 unique, energetic, talented, smart, and beautiful students, who all have a love for learning. My class of 18 is an inclusion class which means I have students who receive special education services mixed with general education students. I can tell this will be a special group. They are all so excited to experience what first grade has to offer them!
"What?" "Can you say that again, your sound cut out!" "Can you hear me now?" These are just some of the phrases that you may hear on a typical virtual learning day. During these unprecedented times, teachers and students are tasked with difficult journey through virtual learning. This endeavor has been made more difficult by the lack of proper headphones.
Students are trying the best they can to concentrate on their schoolwork while trying to block out background noise.
It is often hard to hear students when they are unmuting when it is their turn to speak. They also have trouble listening to the lesson and following along when the sound is not clear.
By having proper headphones with a microphone, students will have a greater chance for an equitable education. An education where all students can both hear and participate!
