Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Tagalog, Urdu, Turkish, and Spanish are some of the many languages spoken by the children in my classroom. Our school is a Title I, inner-city school, where 90% of the children receive free or reduced-price lunch. My children are extremely eager to learn and are very appreciative of everything that is given to them. They love coming to school and are excited to begin each day.
My students face many challenges in their daily lives.
Having the necessary materials to learn should not be one of them. The only way I can ensure my children are successful in their educational journey is to provide these tools to them.
My Project
When we went to Distance Learning in the Spring, I discovered a lot of interactive websites for the kids to use. Some of them allowed the children to read a story and send it to me. It was wonderful to be able to hear them read from a distance.
I would like to get enough headphones with a microphone for each child so that we can still utilize these great websites from the classroom.
In January my students will take the ACCESS test. This is a test to to see how the children progress from year to year with their English Language Acquisition. For the Listening and Speaking portion of this test, they need to have a good set of headphones with a decent microphone on it. Most children use ear buds and are constantly complaining that their ears hurt.
Having this project funded would be beneficial in many ways.
