Help me give my students earbuds with a microphone and wireless computer mice. Schools are closed until June in our state. My students need this equipment to help them continue to learn from home.

My Students

I am the Instructional Technology Specialist at a K-5 elementary school in Virginia. Our student population is currently 640. We are a neighborhood school with a student population from diverse social-economic groups. At least 41% of our students receive free and reduced price lunches. Many of our students have military connections and we also have several families where at least one parent works with the NATO headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia. My school also includes a Spanish Immersion Program for grades 1-5. There are two Spanish Immersion classrooms on each grade level.

Our school is often overlooked for funding because we aren't in the neediest part of the city, yet we still struggle to provide materials for our students because of our limited budget.

We have a caring and motivated faculty and staff, who always put our students first. As the Technology Specialist, for my building, I have often dipped into my own pocket to purchase technology equipment for my students to use because the school budget just doesn't cover technology. I want my students to have the technology that they need to learn and succeed in the 21st century.

My Project

The governor has closed schools in Virginia for the rest of this school year. We are now teaching from home. Most of our students were able to take home a Chromebook to use for distance learning.

Please help me give my students a voice as they are insolated and doing distance learning from home.

It is difficult for many of my students to hear the class conversations using a computer microphone and speaker. My students need earbuds with microphones and wireless computer mice to enable them to participate in online learning opportunities. This equipment will help needy students communicate with their teachers and classmates from home.
