This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are from a large, urban community that welcomes families from all over the globe. They bring a special blend of linguistic diversity, background knowledge, prior experiences and culture to our school. We are a Title I school in a low-income community. I have thirty-five Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) students in my classroom. Free breakfast and free lunch are available to every child in our building each day.
My students are creative, clever and very enthusiastic about learning.
The majority of my students read below grade level. They would benefit from a variety of classroom resources to help increase their success in school. My students need to have technology experiences that help foster 21st century critical thinkers. I want all of my students to be able to have the use of technology in our classroom on a daily basis.
My Project
My students are fast becoming 21st century learners and love to use their devices any chance they can get! Being 2019, technology and education go hand in hand and that shows in our classroom. We use our devices regularly for projects, assignments, videos, and online learning. We have become more and more dependent on technology and collaboration in our mathematics, reading and science programs.
Having access to personal earbuds and carrying pouches is more sanitary than sharing with the entire classroom.
The personal earbuds will also help students to become engaged in learning and testing, instead of worrying about outdated headphones that work sporadically.
A class set of headphones would help my students become more independent in their learning as they could watch videos on their own, create projects, and engage in online educational games.
